Welcome to the 1 Week Cosplay Facebook Challenge! This challenge is meant to help cosplayers learn some basic techniques to boost their reach and engagement. Together, we’ll all tackle one challenge per day, and see if we can get some results!
What makes me an expert?
Well, I’m not. But I have spent the last two years applying my professional marketing experiences to my cosplay brand, and learning through trial and error how to manage a cosplay page. My way is certainly not the only way, but I think it’s fair to say that I probably have something to teach you.
In the last two years, my cosplay page has grown from ~3,000 likes to ~10,000 (which means I’ve more than tripled my audience). I’ve grown sometimes due to pure luck, and other times due to pure sweat. I’ve tried things that succeed wildly, and things that flop embarrassingly.
One thing I learned up front is that when you first start taking this seriously, there is a lot of low-hanging fruit to grab — quick, easy changes that will drastically improve your reach and your engagement. This challenge aims to walk you through those low-hanging options quickly and simply, so you can decide what you want to take away with you and apply to your day-to-day marketing routines.
If you’re on board...
The challenge requires that you have the following things:
- Access to a computer with internet connection (some tasks will not be able to be performed on a mobile device) at least once per day, for 7 days.
- Two brand new photos to share (They don’t need to be new costumes, but they should be good quality photos — well lit, high resolution, non-selfie — that you have not yet shared on your page. I have a blog about how to get 'em!)
- A cosplay fan page on Facebook
Got it? Great! If not, you have a week to pull these things together before the challenge kicks off on Sunday, July 10.
For each day of the challenge, I’ll be outlining your instructions in a separate blog post, here on my website. The best way to keep up-to-date with the tasks is to subscribe to get email notifications for my blog. (It’s easy to unsubscribe again after the challenge if you don’t want to continue getting them!)
Hooray! Now, get pumped, because I’m confident you’re gonna have a popular fan page on your hands!
